CHARGE AGAINST DAWSON
Received Fridav, 8.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Oet. 18. On the charge of nialieiously wounding George Rankin Mackay with intent to do grievous bodily liarm, David -Stewart Dawson, aged 24, company director, was eommilted for trial at Manly Court today. At the eonclusion of tlve five day licaring, the Magisl rate. said he proposed to alter the. charge froin one of malicious wounding fo one of malicious wounding with intent. The, maximum penalty for the former is five vears' imprisonment and for ihe Jatter iife. Bail was fixed at £800. DetVndant pleaded not gnilty and reserved his defenee. During Ihe eross-examination Mrs. Mary Ann Verspoor, aged 20, alleged that' private detectives followed her home last night. ATr. Shand, e.ounsel for defenee, said it must have been the police but the prosecuting sergeant denied I'his.
