Witness, who ac-conipanied David Stewart Dawson. his sister and George Rankin Arackay. in a hired car to Pahu Beach on tlie afternoon of Septeinber 8, gave an account of the happenings at Stewari Dawson 's home which, slie said, she wai Yisiting .for the first time. Two days later she phoned defendant to ask about a handbag which she had left at Palm Beach. He suggested that Mackay should say it was an accident and asked her to see Alackay for him. Slie replie,! that Alackay could not be bought oif He suggested that Mackay should sa> that lie attacked Stewart Dawson, Snr., because of a mental flashback brouglit on by the war. She replied tliat. slie would not comniit per jury. It was then Tie offered her £5000 at the rate of £500 yearlv. She replied: "David, I won't be bought. I won 't be solcl." His response was: "Well, maybe I eaimot biiv you but I am certain 1 can sell you," which infuriafed her so that she said she did not cave wlrefher he went up for five years or twentyfive.
