Popular Doctor Leaving Dr. and Mrs. n. Bieaer, who are both well-known locally, are shortly leaving New Zealand. The doctor proposes returning to the Continent to see his parents, whom he has not seen for many years. State Houses for Foxton Foxton certainiy seems to have what it takes to get State houses. At the recent meeting of the Foxton Borough Council, approval was given to the transfcr of three sections in Coley Street Lo Ihe Housing Department. Freak Calf Born A freak calf, one of twins, was born recently on Mr. P. A. Easton's dairy farm at Foxton. It had three eyes, two ears, one of which was ear-marked, two jaws and one tongue. It was alive when born, but was subsequently kilied. Tribute to Mr. L, G. Lowry The many Shannon friends of Mr. L. G. Lowry, M.P., will be interested in Ihe flne tribute paid hirn by both the Prime Minister and Mr. Holland in the House of Representatives last week, wh°n the House recorded its appreciation of the work Mr. Lowry had' done as ehairman of the Maori AfTairs Committee. Mr. Fraser said Mr. Lowry, although still in hospital, was now making a good recovery. Mr. Holland joined Mr. Fraser in his tribute lo Mr. Lowry and expressed ' good wislics for his return to health. Many Not on Roll The main electoral rolls were closed with numbers of names missing, and it appears that the various organisations canvassing the district have at least been able to convince many people that they are not enrolled. In the mam'mos.t people not on the rolls- are residents in the areas affected by the change of electoral boundaries, although a number of ' persons who have changed their addresses and exservicemen are^among the missing. "Every one should enquire, just to make sure that they are on the roll," said one of the enrolling officers recently. "There is no knowing when the supplementary roll closes, and some people are likely to be left out." Rolls are open for examination at the local Post Office and at "The Chronicle" branch office in Plimmer Terrace.
