Persoixal Mr. Fred Yule and his son, of Carterton, were among the visitors to Otaki yesterday. Jeanne, daughter of Mr. Claude Grey, arrived in Otaki yesterday after being in America for some time. Mr. H. Watts, of the Railway staff, who has been in the Palmerston North Hospital, has returned home improved in health. Old Age Pensions Old age pensions will be paid out on the 21st, widows, orphans and invali^s on the 22nd, war pensions on the 23rd and war veterans' pensions on the 31st. Otaki Fire Brigade The competition arranged by the Otaki Fire Brigade has been won by the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stevens. Unfortunately, the child is incapacitated, but it is pleasing "to record her success. Bowling Tourney The Otaki Railway Bowling Club will hold a tournament on October 20, commencing at 10.30 a.m. Already entries have been received from several Wellington and Manawatu players. Tennis Club's Opening Tennis in, this district promises to be on the up grade this season, it being the intention of many young players to link up with the various clubs. The official opening of the Otaki Lawn Tennis Club will be on October 20, at 2.30 p.m. Players and friends are invited to be present. College Trust Board At a sitting of the College Trust Board at Otaki members present were Archdeacon Petrie (choirman), Messrs. M. Baker, W. M. Simcox, R. Rangiheuea, T. Reini, Castle, McKenzie and McMillen (secretary). A deputation consisting of Messrs. James, Townrow and Calwell as.ked relative to allowing the college to be made into a manual training school. They were given a very sympathetic hearing, and the matter will have further consideration.
