PcrsoiiRl Mrs. F. Clough, oi. Grey Street, is spending a holiday with relatives in the South Island. Mr. E. Curruthers, shift operator at the Mangaore power house, has resigned in order to accept another position in the north. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Elvines, Mangaore, have returned from a holiday visit to Nelson and Blenheim. Miss A. Clayton, .who has been home only a short time, -has again been admitted to the Amara Hospital, Levin. Mr. Nepia Kapa, who has been the guest of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. Peni, Vance Street, has returned to his home in Whakatane. The friends of Mrs. J. Swindlehurst will be pleased to hear that she is now progressing favourably. Mrs. Swindlehurst has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital for over a month. There passed away at the Awapuni Hospital, on Saturday, Mr. Albert Victor Wells, a former respected citizen of Shannon. The late Mr. Wells was a brother of Mrs. S. Pajuie, of Shannon, and an uncle of Mrs. W. Grey, of Mangaore. The funeral, which was largely attendod, left the Church of England on Monday afternoon for the Shannon cemetery. The deceased gentleman was in his 70th year. Deer Stalking Popular A parcy oi" young local sportsmen spent the week-end in the hills at the back of Shannon in searcn of deer. Although no game was shot a most enjoyable weekend was spent. Cherry Blossom Blooms Travellers passlng through the town are attracted by the beautiful display of cherry blossoms in the gardens along the main street. Each year the flowering of these trees helps to brighten up the town considerably, and if the blooms are left on the trees and not picked to adorn some of the homes about the town they continue to bloom for some time;
