By Telegravh-
AUCKLAND, Oct. 14. Claims in one instance for an issue ot milk and in the seeoiid case for iniproved washing and other facilities, were beliind decisions of the Auckland walerside workers not to accept overtime on two steamers tonight. The two sliips held idle were the Shaw, Savill and Albion stcamerj Pakelia disclxarging basic slagj and theUnion Company steamer Kiwitea un-j loading coal at Chelsea. An indication of the union's view of j the failure of the Waterfront Industryi Commission to accede to the request to! issue milk to the men unloading basic slag, was given by an early announce-j inent that no slag would be discharged; today without milk. This was followed1 by a meeting of the men working the! Pakelia which decided that no over-i time would be acce'pted tonight buti that unionists would return to the jobj tomorrow morning. The dispute at Chelsea was based 0Uj demands by the union for a new changej room and improved washing facilities; described by the. president, Mr. Barnes, as belonging to the middle ages. The decision not to work overtime until the ! matter had been remedied was reached | at a stopwork meetin-g last week and j enforced for the first tinxe on the Kiwitea.
