AUCKLAND, UCt. ±1. New Zealand 's General Election, its political institutions, and eeonomic and social development will be raw material for Dr. Dean MeHenry, associate professor of political science at the University of California, who arrived today from San Francisco. He will make a study of these topies on behalf of the Carnegie Corporation. ' ' \Ye regard New Zealand as a social laboratory and as far as possible I am going to put your countrv under the microscope," Dr. MeHenry stated. He said he was personally concerned at tlie. threat of .Commnnism. There were, tvvo. answefs to- the-problem. Either a capitalistic economy that would work. or a Socialist eeonomic Demoeracy. Was it possible to liave a Democracv under Soeialism? Could there be freeI doiu uuder planning1? It would be of absorbing iuterest to study the extent of the auswers to these questions. Dr. McIIenry, who will make- Wellington his headquarters, proposes t# publish a work on his conelusions.
