* - VANCOUVER, Oct. 12. The crew, interviewed, said feeliugs flared into tlie open when an ottieer slapped one scaman during a scuffle in- the bar at Taliiti. Harsli words were spoken then and Juring- the remainder of the trip, but there were no ilsticuft's, The erew denied tlie report that armed natives were plaeed aboard at Suva to protect the officers.. The nien said trouble arose when t}iQ Capt-ain- attempted to bring three distressed British seamen aboard at Auckland. for passage to- Vancouver. The nien eontended that there was no rooni in tlieir quarters for tlie Biitctas.
