BARNETT PAIRS BOWLING
Some thirty players indulged in pleasant games at the Otaki Railway Club's green yesterday, when Barnett pairs were played. Eric Baxter, by winning all his games, carried off the trophy for the leads, while five, with three games, out of four, tied for the skips' trophy. They were Turoa Webster, L. Walsh, G. Lamb, Field and Ben Rolfe. In the play -off Field (Auckland) won. Webster beat Rolfe, Field beat i Walsh, and in the final Field beat Webster. Lamb was absent. Following are the results:— - Skips: Webster, Lamb, Walsh,; Rolfe and .Field three games each; Grey, Baker, Jepson, Higginson, Cahill, Merwood and Southgate two each; Booth, Symonds, Whitehorn and Knox one each. Leads: Baxter four; Winterburn, Keay, Rich, Hannah and Watts three each; R. Merwood (later replaced by Harris), Nicolson, Bailey, Hannah, Dixon and Rusling' two each; Morgan a'nd Mitchell one
each; and Wolfe and Connor nil. Afternoon tea was served and enjoyed.
