At Messrs. Abraham and Williams' yards on Monday thcrc was a large attendance of buyers and a large yarding of cattle, all pcns being filled. There was also a good yarding of sheep. For good quality stock bidding was brisk. A number of cattle from the flood area, which had had a hard time and were consequently in poor and weak condition, were very slow of salc. The cattle were not shown off to best advantage owing to the statc of the yards, and grumbling was heard from both farmers and dealers. i Two bulls broke out, and were sold iin an adjoining paddock. Prices realised were as i'oliows: — Sheep: Ewes with lambs at foot, 22s 6d all counted; woolly Romney hoggets, 30s; black-faced hoggets, 29s; woolly fat ewes, 26s 6d. Cattle: An extra large yarding of yearling Jerscy heiters was ofiered. Top pen prices were £8 12s 6d eacli. Other good lines were sold at £6 and upv/ards, and small and low conditioned heifers from the flcod areas brought £2 10s each. The usual supply of fat cattle was absent. Fat cows (ex-dairyj brought up to £12 and others from £6 upwards. Boners were at late rates, excepting a few from the flood areas which realised 10s each. A.good pen of two-year-old P.A. steers was offered on behalf of Mr. G. G. Mitchell, and were passed in at £9 15s each. Dairy heifers close to profit brought £7 to £11 15s, and dairy cows to £14 10s. A load of macrocarpa fencing .posts realised 5s each.
