(SPECIAL— FROM
WELLINGTON, This Day. For the concluding day of the Otaki Maori Racing Club's spring meeting good fields are again carded, the two main events being up to Metropolitan standards.. Lord Elgin's good second to Hulabaloo in the Ling Memorial will cause him to go out a strong fancy for the Nikitini Memorial Handicap, while in the open sprint Soneri is a firm favourite. There are several fresh : horses engaged in the minor eyents, but first day's form should prove a fairjy reliable guide. With the Wellington meeting at Awapuni but two weeks away, Otaki running will be watched with keen interest. The Auckland spring meeting will open at Ellerslie tomortow and concludc on the following Saturday, and the South Canterbury Club will hold its single day fixture at Washdyke. Win and place betting operates at all meetings.
