Otaki-Porirua Trust A meeting of the Otaki-Porirua Trust Board will be held in Otaki on Tuesday next as set up under une new constitution. Biirglary at Beach Mrs. McLachlan's premises at the Otaki Beach were burglariously entered last evening. Howeyer, the intruder gained no benefit evidently being disturbed. Trout Liberated Some sixteen hundred yearling trout were yesterday liberated in the Otaki River and tributaries. There was a good attendance of the Acclimatisation Society's members present.
Auction Sale On Wednesday next Messrs. Harold Tayior and J. L. Bennett, Ltd., will conduct an auction sale of high class 'goods at their Railway Mart. A splendid assortment of lines will be offered and readers are invited to peruse the full list appearing in the advertising columns of this issue. — P.B.A. Cricket Practice The Otaki Cricket Club, which anticipates a very successful season, will hold a practice on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. in anticipation of the opening of the season on Saturday, October 19. Members are asked to attend practices on Tuesday and Thursday eVenings at 5 p.m. Donations to Band At Wednesday night's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council the finance committee's report recommended that the council donate £5 towards the funds of the Otaki Brass Band. Cr. Young considered this inadequate, aria moved that a grant of £10 be made, .while Cr. Cook considered that one of £25 would. not be too mu'ch, especially as the band was securing mor£ i'nstruirients, etc. o ^ 4^njimber,^'pf boys .were .at present .fieirig"tYamed, and it was thought the band should have encouragement. It was agreed that £10 be donated. Reminder to Ball Patrons Residents* of Otaki and the surrounding district who wili be attending the Levin Combined Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's plain and fancy dress masquerade ball, in the Regent BallL'oom, Levin, on Wednesday next, are reminded to purchase their tickets, which will entitle them to travel on the free buses leaving the post office at 7.15 p.m. Tickets may be obtained from N.
