ENJOYABLE DANCE
W HAUTERE RIFLE CLUB On Friday night the Hautere Def ence Rifle Club held its annual dance and presentation of trophies at the Hautere Hall. In spite of other attractions, a good crowd was present and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all. The club's patron, Mr. G. A. Monk, presented the trophies, and in a short speech congratulated the dance committee for turning on such a fine effort, and also the Hautere Club's teams on their successes in other fields during the past season. The following is a list of trophy donors and the winners during the season just closed: — Championship ' belt: President H. A. Lumsden. Vickers Cup: President H. A. Lumsden. Lumsden Cup: Rlm. B. F. Monk. President Lumsden's trophy: Rlm. R. L. Monk. DeputyPresident F. H. Monk's trophy: President H. A. Lumsden. Mr. J. Southgate's trophy: Rlm. T. Empson. Mr. H. Taylor's trophy: Rlm. R. L. Monk. Mr. J. Trembath's trophy: Rlm. B. L. Monk. Mr. S. Harvey's trophy: Rlm. L; E. Monk. A club trophy: Rlm. C. Cobb. First ladies' day: Mrs. B. F. Monk. Second: Mr. H. G. Wylie's trophy: Mrs. H. A. Lumsden. Third: Mrs. L. E. Monk. Mr. D. Mackenzie's trophy for the most improved shot during last season went to Rlm. Don Wallington, the youngest member and a very promising shot. A fine and valuable trophy has been donated to the club by Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Manz and family, in memory of the late Mr. F. R. Manz. This trophy will come up for competition during the coming season. Mrs. Royal provided one of her usual tasty suppers. Bright music was supplied by Mr. Upshall and Mr. Hooper, while Mr. C. Cobb carried out the duties of M.C. with credit.
