Personal Mrs. O. Doyle and Miss Josephine Doyle left over the weekend to spend a holiday at Hastings. Old Identities Pass Some of the older residents of Shannon will regret to hear of the passing of two ex-residehts. News was received yesterday of the death at Dannevirke of Mrs. T. Logan, wif e of Mr. "Tommy" Logan, who was in business in this town many years ago. Also came the news yesterday of the passing of Mrs. Fenwick, also one of the old identities. Many Racegoers Saturday say many local residents headed for the race meeting at Otaki. The bus was booked out and many private cars made the trip. Punters were varied in their reports of the meeting; mahy spent quite a successful day while others backed horses not destined to win. Week-end Football On Saturday afternoon a rugby match was played at Foxton between teams representlng the Moutoa Swamp and Woolpacks and Textiles factory. The swamp team was successful in outpointing the home team by 18 points to 11 after a most interesting game. The bus whieh ran from Shannon carried a full load of supporters for both sides.
