GENE AUTRY PLANS OWN COMPANY
There is an increasing trend of stars to produce their own pictures. Most recent of these is Rosalind Russell who, together with her husband, Freddy Brisson, have formed an independent producing company. Many Western fans will remember the pre-war singing cowboy, Gene Autry, who was then the world- wide cowboy idol. Well, Gene went to the war and in his absence Buck Rogers was boosted by Republic. Court proceedings followed and it was decreed that a contract existed between Gene and Republic with the result that Gene is completing his contract with Republic. He announced last week that after he completes his present work for Republic he plans to form his own Western Stock Company.
