TE HORO TENNIS CLUB

MEMBERS' ANNUAL MEETING Despite unfavourable weather conditions the annual meeting of the Te Horo Tennis Club was well attended. Mrs. Spiers, the retiring chairwoman, gave her report on the year's work and stated that during the war years the club had gone. into recess and as a result the courts were in a bad state. The club was now building up a fund to restore them by holding dances regularly.. The club had held a shop day recently and the results were very gratifying. During the year' Waikanae had visited for a game and a return game had been played at Waikanae, both matches being enjoyed by all. People had given generously and two of the club's members were now in Japan with J-Force. Mrs. Spiers then thanked members of the committee for their co-operatlon during the year. The election of officers.then took place and resulted as follows: — Chairwoman: Mrs. Miles; vicechairman : Mr. Porter; secretary: Miss L. Verrent; committee: Misses H. Spiers and P. Cottle, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford and Mr. K. Wilton; club captain: Mr. J. Winiata; Press correspondent: Miss H. Spiers. It was decided to hold table tennis evenings next winter. The opening day was fixed for October 6, commencing at 10.30 a.m., the men arranging a working bee before the actual day.
