Mrs. R. T. Martin, of Salisbury, Street, is feaving for a holiday at Waikaremoana. An announcement that he would not be a candidate at the coming general election was made by Mr. P." Carr, M.P. for Auckland West, last night. He said he had been reluetantly forced to the conclusion .that the condition of his health had made a withdrawal inevitable. "It is with deep regret," said Mr. Carr, "that I will reiinquish my duties as the Parliamentary representative of the people of Auckland West. I was selected by the Labour Party to succeed the great leader of the party, the late Prime Minister (Mr. Savage) in the constituency. I have striven to the best of my ability to give faithful and loyal service to Lhose whom I was proud to represent in Parliament and I believe I have succeeded in doing so."
