OBITUARY

MR. JOHN JAMES KENT The many friends of Mr. John James Kent, of Reikorangi, will regret to learn that he passed away yesterday morning after a brief illness of less than a week. The deceased, who was in his 75th year, was a well-known resident of this district for many years, and had lived at Reikorangi for some considerable time, carving out a home for himself and family in that district. He possessed a large oircle of friends, made by . his cheerful and generous nature, while in politics he always took a .very keen interest. As a member of the Farmers' Union he did splendid work, particularly as a - member of the Manawatu provincial executive ov'er a lengthy period, and much regret was expressed at his decision to resign. The deceased, who will be buried at Otaki on Saturday, after a service aif the Catholic Church, leaves a widow and grown-up family of four daughters — Muriel, iWinnie, Rosetta and Frances, to whom much sympathy is expressed.
