Stevens, of Kingston Road, is on a week's visit to her mother, Mrs. R. Grigor, Castlecliff, 1 Wanganui. After four years' service with the ; W.A.A.C., Cpl. Ruby Sands, daugh- : ter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Sands, Bali lance Street, returned home on Tuesday evening after being disi charged from the service. i ! Mr. E. R. Undrill, of Christchurch, is at present relieving at the Bank of New Zealand's local branch. Mr. I'. Thurston, who completed his ! duties last weekend, expects to : spcnd a week or two in Shannon : bcfore taking up his temporary ' residence at Plimmerton. A visitor to Shannon on Tuesday ; was Mr. Arthur Brown, of Auck- , land. Mr. Brown was a resident of : Shannon about thirty years ago, and spent a most enjoyable day i looking up some of the town's old | identities, many of whom he i remembered as children. Mentioned in Despatches Advice has been received by Mr. T. H. Simley, of Stafford Street, an | ex-corporal in the second N.Z.E.F. 1 forces in Egypt and Italy, from i Major.-General W. J. Guerin, made a presentation to Mrs. W. R. Mullins on behalf of her fellow memj bers. Mrs. Guerin said that Mrs. ' Mullins had been associated with | the Women's Division for a great [ number of years, during which time j she had been a tireless worker, par- ' ticularly in connection with the I flower shows, and it was fit and s proper that recognition of her seri vices should be given. Mrs. J. A. j Harris, Wellington central provin- ! cial president, handed Mrs. Mul- ! lins an art woodwork tray embelI lished with the badge of the W.D.F.F., and wished her every happiness in her new home.
