He cam'e liome very strongly over the last five furlongs in 1.11, and the three in 42 2-5sec. The Inflation horse gives the impression that he is not far off his best. Lackamor (Harris) was doing mucli better than Welconie Guest (Clatterbuck) at the end of live furlongs run in 1.9, the last three in 41 l-5see. It was a smart effort 011 the p'art of the former and the time was not bettered during the morning. Specialist (Garth) was eased over the flnal stages of half a mile run in 56see. He is to make a reappearance at Otaki, but will be all the better for a race or two. Flying Aee (Waddell) rau six furlongs in 1.28 .'5-5, the last three in 44 3-5sec. He went fast early, but was stopping at the end. Tremello Pleases Matawene (Harris) flnished in good style to beat Kiekie (Clutterbuclc) over seven furlongs, the last live oecupyin'g 1.12 2-5, and three 43 3-5sec. Gay Stroller (Andrews) went with plenty oi dash over three furlongs in 41see. He has done 'exceptio'nally well lately and is to have an outing at Otaki. Cramond Bay (Broughton) and Tremello (Bowness) were companions over seven fur longs in 1.40, the last live taking 1.1 1 4-5. Tremello was under rest rain! throughout, and was the more inipressive of the pair. He is engaged" at ■ Otaki and invariablv runs his best races fresli. Cramond Bay, who is to contest the principal event at Hastings, looks in solid order and will have the services of W. J. Broughton 011 Saturday. Fen (Bain) had 110 ditiicultyJ.il beatiug Cinerous (Amevi over live furlongs in .1.11. The former is possessed of plenty of speed, but has not been too solid in the past. Lady Oratory (Waddell) and Glebefield (Saunders) pleased by the nianner in whieh tliey got to the end of five furlongs in 1.10, the last four in 56rec. Ladv Oratory racod well enough at Marton to suggest that sht ; may- be an early winner. Mesalliance 1 (Broughton) and Hakim (Bowness) strodo o-ver seven furlongs in 1.43 2-5

In a similar task Cincture (Waddell) rau the last five in 1.14. Promising Novices Ladv Barrington (Clutterbuek) and Afton Water (Jenkins) were well clear of Lady Burford (Saunders) and Commercial (Harris) at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.10 1-5. Voltaio (W. J. Broughton) and Skilled (Bowness) had no diflieult} in recording 1.10 2-5. Dileas (Harris) was let off with an easy seven furlongs, the last five occupying 1.14. Langue d'Or (Sellars) linished attractivelv to shade Mary Jo (Aitken) over six furlongs in 1.21. The former continues to thrive on his preparation and should again be a strong contender for leading handicap honours this terni. Tahli (Boreham) was not bustled to cover six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. Kindergarten (Sellars) was allowed to stride over three furlongs under a good hold in llsec. The cliampion was moving a tr ie short afterwards and his chances of surviving a preparation now appear more doubtful. The Jumpers A candidate f • the hurdle events at the Wellington meeting, Red Glare (Waddell) was responsible for a fast and clever exhibition of jumping over six hurdles. Bay Robe (Andrews) and Tlieolateral (Buchanan) were assoeiated in a schooling bout over six hurdles, the former being niueh more impressive than his eompanion, who clouted every fence.
