Security Trade with Australia The report that funds were being made available by the R'eserve Bank to permit -New Zealanders to buy and sell securities in Australia was not correct, according to a statement made by a Reserve Bank ' official, commenting on an article. published recently in Auckland. Arrangements had lately been com-; pleted to permit Australian resi-i dents to sell Australian securities ; on the New Zealand market, pro-: vided that the proceeds o'f such, realisations Were immediately usedi to purchase other Australian! securities on the New ^ealand mar-! ket, thus ensuring tha't New Zea--1 land's total hold'ing of Australian securities remained the same, the official said. Though the arrangements now in operation enabled some addition'al transact'ions to he effected between the Australian and New Zealand markets, it could •not be too clearly emphasised that pe'rmission was not given by the New Zealand authorities -for the remlttance 'of fuhds bvbrseas for the sole pur.pose of investing in Btock Ekchiange securities.
