Dancing Class Opens On Saturday afternoon Miss Zoe Bailey, of Palmerston North, commenced a dancing class in the Parish Hall. Some twenty pupils were- enrolled and instruction was commenced in all classes of dancing, including tap, . operatic, character and Grecian. Plunket Ball The local branch of the Plunket Society held a most successful Plunket Ball in the Druids' Hall on Thursday evening. As in the -past, this function was well organised and attracted a good gathering of the dancing public from all over the district. The music was supplied by a Palmerston North professional orchestra, and a delightful supper was served by a willing committee of ladies. Opiki Women's Institute Mrs. Claridge presided over the September meeting of the Opiki Women's Institute. There was a good muster of members and Mrs. Faulkner was welcomed as a new member. A competition conducted during the afternoon was won by Mrs. Wilde. The usual competitions were held and the winners were: — Best bloom: Mrs. Wilde 1, Mrs. Gregory 2, Mrs. Claridge 3. Cluster: Mrs. Wilde 1. Pot of marmalade: Mrs. Claridge 1, Mrs. Wilde 2, Mrs. Kriven 3. The competitions for next month will be spring cabbage, best bloom, cluster, shoulder spray and . handerchief made from a salt bag. A stall will also be held. Hostesses will be Mesdames Kriven, Larsen and Cooksley.
