Sun Spots

A -snot was taken at tne sun at Wanganui last week between clouds and observers found that the sun's face was much spotted. Therb were two large spots in the south^rn hemisphere 20 degrees south of the Equator with a smaller one in between the two major spots, followed by a small one approaching the meridian. The area affect- f | ed in the north is 400,000 miles " ; long and very narrow, whilst in ; the southern area one Is 15 degrees jfrom the Equator. There are two j groups nearing the western limit, 1 30 degrees from the Equator. The 'northern spot shows. great actlv- : ity and polarisation. It is possible jthat auroral displays may follow , this activity, says the Wanganui 1 Chronicle. \ \ . \ )
