.» Man Admitted To Hospital In Wellington
WEUJNQTQN, Sept. 28. While a dance was in progress in the Wellington Town Hall at about 10.30 o'clock last night a distqrbapce occurred,, resultipg in a man named. Walter Roades Sherman heing admitted to the Wellington Hospital with stab wounds. An eye-witness of the incident stated later that a man who was not a guest at the dahce was observed causing a dis.turbance ip the halh Sherman intervened and the man was sjected from the buUding. A further scuffle took place outside the hall during which Sherman was injured, apparently with a knife 01* other eharp instrument. Sherman was bleeding profusely from che shoulder and side. The police were notified of the trouble and a man was :;aken to the Central Police Station. Sherman was removed^ by he Free Ambulance to the hospital, where an immediate operation was performed. His condition afterwards was reported to be satisfactory. The sequel was heard in the Magistrate's Court at Wellington this morning when Adam Barr Cherrie, 38, porter, appeared on a charge of assaulting Walter Boades Sherman so as to cause him actual bodily harm. He was remanded until Friday.
