AUCKLAND, Sept. 27. ! Morling, S.M. | lrviug did not appcar. j For the Department, Mr. Roson said j numcrous attempts had been made by the Department to get in touch with Irving for infonnation about one of his cliont's aTTairs. Dcfendant was a public accountant and ho undertook the taxation obligations of other taxpayers. So the Department eonsidered bis obligations were greater than tho ordinary iaxpayer. An inspector from the Incomc Tax Department, Georgc Snelling, said ho had lirst telephoned Irving '9 office in August, 19-15. Sinco tlien the Department had sont numcrous letters but had rceeived no reply. 'It does not appear to rae to be a trivial 01161100,' ' said Mr. Morling. ""The Department has cerlainly been most patient about the matter." Irving was fmed £20 and costs.
