HEAVY TBACKS AT AWAPUNI Owing to the waterlogged state of the track at Awapuni yesterday final gallops by Hastings-eugaged horses were not very iiluminating, the times recorded bemg very slow. Tho course proper, with the pegs out 45 feet, was available for fast work. Kindergarten (Sellars) wa9 allowed to stride over the last two furlongs of his work in 2Ssee. Langue d'Or (Boreham) and Broiefield (Sellars) were not pressed to run five furlongs in 1.18. Financial (Boreham). came home from the seven furhmg barrier in 1.50, the last three furlongs taking 48sec. He was doing it easily throughont and has benefited by his outing at Marton. Mesalliance (Ilarris) was let off with an easy seven furlongs,- the last three oecupying 47 4-5sec. Specialist (Garth ) strode over half a mile in 62sec. Hakiiti (Araey) was under a good hold while traversing a mile in 2.17 2-5, the last three furlongs in 4S 2-5sec. Prefa (Andrews) ran from the seven furlong barrier to the threo in 57sec. He has dual engagements at Hastings, but the "Flaxmere Hack Handicap will be his niission. Tribute Improved. After running the first four in 60 2-5see., Newel Post (Broughton) and Buddy (Clutterbuck) were eased over the concluding stages of their seven furlongs to register 1.50. Tribute (Bowness) and Dileas (Amey) worked with plenty of freedom over seven furlongs in 1.48, the last three oecupying 46see. The former has definitelv improved with his race at Marton.
