THOUSANDS DYING IN FAMINE

Received Friday, 12.15 p.m. LONDON, September 26. A serious famine is reported among the 2,500,000 inhabitants of Madura Island, with thousands dying, says the Times' Ratavia correspondent. Many have tried to swim the straits and have been drowned through weakness, while others have crossed by raft to Java. The Dutch blame the Indonesians for exporting rice to India and the Indonesians blame the Dutch Navy for halting traffic between Java and Madura-
