Personal Mr. and Mrs. Butts, who have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. H. Harris, have returned to their home at Auckland. 8 Sir Herbert and Lady Hart passed through Otaki yesterday and were met by General and Mrs. Young. The visitors were on their way to the Wairarapa, via Wellington. The engagement is announced of Joan Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Saunders, Paraparaumu Beach, to William Vance, son of Mrs and Mrs. W. G. Shannon, "Flaxbourne," Palmerston North. The status of A.P.A.N.Z. (asociatt lublic accountant) in the society .ias been grantecl to Messrs. J. G O'Sullivan, T. Price and D. H Griffin (Wellington), A. S. Bakei (Petone), S. D. McConochie (Lowei Hutt), A. W. L. Baker (Otaki), C 3. Campbell, J, E. Montgomerie anc D. T. Spring (Palmerston North). Wasted Parcels An overseas sailor at present ir. Otaki states that while in Englanc lie saw seores of parcels on thc wharf with the contents oozing out of them. He adds that the pile wai a large one and had been on the wharf for some time. These parcels, he adds, were sent by people in New Zealand and Australia to bc distributed in the Homeland.
