— — .. . JW. — : rSEPTEMBER MEETING The usual monthly meeting of the Levin School Committee' was held last evening, when theire weye present: Messrs A. C. Kennerley (chairman), H. F. McClune (headmaster), D. P. Todd, L. T. Witherow, F. O. Malcolm, W. R. Jack, H. Bufi, A. Shaw, A. R. Ransom and R. Young. The Wellington Education Board advised that Miss N. A. Leddra had been selected to take up a direct war, appointment at the school. Headmaster's Report The headmaster's report was then read as follows: "The roll is 604 and the attendance is good. Miss L. Langtry commenced duty on September 9. Miss A.Clayton has applied for three weeks' leave, of absence. Miss N. A. Leddra is acting as relieving teacher. "The buildings are in reasonably good (tondition nnd the grount^ and gardens are being put in order. Some protection is required for the windows adjacent to No. 1 tenn-is court. Parents' consent forms for diptheria protective treatment ai;*e available, and parents who haye children under six years of age and wish them to be immunised should complete one of the necessary forms immediately. — "Three or four cricket bats and a tennis nefc are required for summer sport. The A and B basketball teams had meritorious wins in Palmerston North recently. Good entries have been received for tt\e Horowhenua Boys' and Girl$' Agricultural Club competitions. Mr. P. L. Young, of Weraroa, has donated 10s for special prizes fqr the home garden section. Micha^Ql Hall won the foot cr.op competition with a carrot crop yielding 32 tons per acre." The inspector's report was read and the ^committee decided to write to the headmaster, staff and pupils ixpressing their. appreciation and congratulations on the excellence of it.
