PRICES FOR WETHERS RISE
LEVIN STOCK MARKET There was v another fair yarding of fat sheep at the Levin -weekly stock sale yesterday. Priees £?r wethers showed a marked r,ise .pf ;2s and 3s per head .on last week's safe. Top wethers bro.ught 45s 4d, while ■ewes made up to 35s 4d. -The f.at hogget encry was of extremely goqd quality and topped 40s 7d- The nrst spring lambs of the seasqn were offered, but -these .were smqll light weights and prices wer.e . n?t on a par with recent .prfyate sal^s. Fat and f orward 2-th and 4^tpi wethers made to 33s 4d, witk .a liije of .ewes and lambs realising 17s 9.d all counted. Some good quaMjty m.«. woolly hoggets brought 26s, smalfer sorts selling ,down to 22s. Three crucks of prime ox brought £21 '7s 3d, good quality light heifers fnade oo £14 and extra prime P.A. ,cows -to £13 2s 6d. There was a smalfer yarding of fat pigs and prices geflerally were 2s to 5s above .la^t week's ruling rates. Realisatioqs for store pigs were still brisk. ,A fair yarding of dairy cattle was entered, with heifers close to profit bringing £13 and later calving heif^ers from £10 to £1-1 15s. jThe following prices were realised: — Sheep: Prime wethers, 43s lOd jt.o 45s 4d; medium, 40s ld to 41s lOd; prime b.f.s., 41s 4d to 41s lOd; lighter, 36s ld to 38s 4d; prime ewes, 30s 7d to 31s 4d; medium, 2Js 4d to 29s 7d; lighter, down to 25$; prime hoggets, 36s lOd to 40s 7d; medium, 31s 4d to 35s .4d; light, down to 27s lOd; fat and f orward woolly 2-th and 4-th wethers, 33s 4d; 5-year-old ewes with S.D.'s -at foot, 17s 9d all m.s. woolly hoggets, 26s; smaller, 24s; small b.f. hoggets, 22s to 23s 6d. Cattle: Prime ox, £20 to £20 7s 6d; prime heifers, £12 17s 6d to £14 t2s 6d; prime cow, £11 17s 6d to £13 2s 6d; runncrs and fat ex-dairy cows, late market rates; heifers close to profit, £11 15s to £13; late calving heifers, £10 to £11 5s; calved heijfers, £7 to £11 10s; bo'ners and potter bulls, late market rates. Pigs: Extra prime pqrk, £4 ,8s to £4 14s; medium, £3 16s to £4 5s;, baconers, £5 ls to £5 6s; sow wiph litter of five, £7 11s; store pigs, £2 14s to £2 18s; slips, 30s to ;32s 6d; weaners, 25s.
