LEVIN LADIES' COMPETITIONS

In order to obtain better playing conditions by having the fairways cut prior to the match day, this week's competition for members of the Levin Ladies' Golf Club will be played on Friday next instead of Wednesday. The competition will take the form of a stableford bogey' match. The draw is as follows: Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Ryder, Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Cameron, Mrs. Black ahd Mrs. Frederikson, Mrs. McClune and Mrs. Hastedt, Mrs. Hunter and Mrs. M. Wilson, Miss Herrick and Mrs. Standen, Mrs. Franklin and Mrs. Denton, Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Keenan, Mrs. Wyatt and Mrs. Clarke and Mrs. Scott and marker. At the weekend: Miss Hosie and Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Porter and Miss P. Wilson. t Players are reminded that the scoring method for this competi1 tion has been altered to bring it 1 into line with that adopted by most ! clubs today. Strokes are taken at 1 the usual holes, as in an ordiiwy bogey match, whereupon the . player takes the points gained as ; they occur. Then the total numt ber of points is added up at the , completion of the round. For ; example, if a player is entitled to a r stroke on a bogey four and cards a ' six, then that player is awarded - one point for being one over bogey i on that hole. If a five is carded, i two points would result for a bogey, while a four gives a birdie worth • three points and so on. If any 1 player experiences difiiculty • in - reckoning up the points gained, f members of the committee will' be ? pleased to assist. j ' It was reported last wgek that -no i cards had been handed in for the 3 C grade competition played on 1 September 14. This ' was not the

case, Miss N. Walker gaining three points and Mrs. Coutie two points for this competition. Last week's game, played on September 21. resulted in a win for Miss Evison, with Miss Coleman next. The draw for next Saturday is as follows: [Mrs. Coutie and Miss Evison, Miss I Chapmen-Cohen and marker, Miss ;Lecldra and Miss Kilsby, Miss N. . Walker and Miss Coleman and Miss 'Franklin and Mrs. Sorenson.
