COLLEGE WIN A GRADE Last Saturday brought the Horowhenua Basketball Association's games. -tp. a elosq for ;the 1946 season;. /vvhich'has'. b'een in- every respect a •^|bst sucqessful one. .-Thia.is.ffheJ -M-st year that 'thre6 grades' of i basketball have been played,. and all players are to be complimented on the interest and sportsmanship which they have maintairred throughout the season. Teams which have had to travel each Saturday to Levin are specially to be commended for the enthusiasm they have maintained, as also are those junior teams which, in spite of their many difficulties and somecimes frequent reverses, did their oest to field a team each Saturday. Comparatively speaking; the Horowhenua Basketball Association is not a large one, and it is, cherefore, doubly proud of its ability to field 24 teams each Saturday. Basketball is an excellent winter sport for girls, and it is to be hoped that it will eontinue to flourish throughout the district. The foliowing are the results of games played last Saturday: — A grade: College A.13, Shannon A 12; St. Joseph's 13, College B 5; Tui A 15, College B 13; Tui A 15, Aces A 7; St. Joseph's 8, Aces A 4; C.O.G. Knock-Out Tourhament On Saturday next, September 28, a knock-out tournament will be held on the college courts eommencing at 2 p.m. Textile a and College C are asked to be prepared to play off for the B Grade CHp. This match should be an interesting one,. as both sides are evehly matched.
