DIAMOND JUBILEE
MEETING OF METHODISTS An enthusiastic meeting of Methodists was held in Otaki under the presidency of the Rev. V/. B. Pickering to further consider holding its diamond jubilee. The chairman outlined what had been done and expressed pleasure v/ith the interest taken in the corning event. It was decided to hold celebrations on the Saturday and Sunday of the first week in March, 1947 immediately following the Wellington conference. Mr. Norman Hendra was appointed secretary and A4r. Waltei Taylor treasurer. Matters oi importance were carefully considered and a hall committee appointid. Proceedings are to begin with s Jamily tea and reunion with .ormer mefnbers and visiting iriends. It was decided to extend ' invita--ions to the Palmerston Church fhoir to provide the' evening pro- 1 gramme. Mrs. W. Taylor was : ehosen as convener of the ladies' ! ;ea committee. The matter of a : =;pecial preacher for the Sunday services was left in the hands of ' the circuit stewards and minister. : Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Ken Taylor : will act as a host and hostess committee. The youth celebrations will be considered at the next young people's gathering. i A very happy event is anticipated ' and reunion with many . former friends and residents in vjcaxi.
