MANGAORE GOLF

With ideal playing conditions on Wednesday the Mangaore links attracted a good gathering of members for the usual mid-week ladies' competition. The following were the results of the nine hole match: —Mrs. Elvines 54 — 15—39, Mrs. Higgie 47 — 7 — 40, Mrs. Baker 55 — 14 — 41. In the match played for the "top • dogs" competition, the holders, • Mesdames Beech and Robinson, were defeated by Mesdames Elvines and McClymont. Very unsuitable weather conditions prevailed on Sunday, and the fairways and greens were waterlogged due to the heavy rain. The following were the best cards : handed in for the bogey competition: — Lester three down, Beech six down, Boon five down and Baker four down. Stroke scores were: Lester 98 — 27 — 71, Beech 105 —30—75, Boon 99—25—74 and Baker 100—27—73.
