OTAKI BOWLING CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Dtaki Bowling Club was held on ruesday night, the president, Mr. N. Wilson, presiding. There were ilso present Messrs. Avery, Robert;on, Bartosh, Buxton, Walsh, Baker, 3oggs, Young, Nicolson and Mcjilligan (secretary) . The chairman, the club's repre;entative 011 " the Memorial Hall Dommittee, reported on the recent neeting and expressed a desire hat the club would act for the Durpose of assisting. — Agreed to. The matter of improving the aavilion was held in abeyance, on account of the shortage of naterial, but it is hoped that jxtensive improvements will be nade before next season. The report on the green was very jatisfactory, and Mr. Horton, the ;reen supervisor, had expressed limself as wcll satisfied. It was iecided that the green be well attended to during the season, and a request will be made for ones and :wos to adhere to bowling rules md stand on the bank after play.ng their shots. In the past sev2ral members have been in the iiabit of crowding round a head. and besides being a nuisance, did tiarm to the green. It was decided to eflect improvement to the grounds in general, and improve from a beautifying point of view, It was stated that several new alayers had signified their intention of joining the club, and it was therefore pointed out that the membership for the year would be substantially increased. Mr. Guise wrote accepting the position as the club's delegate on the centre, and said he desired to become an honorary member of the club. A letter was read from the Levin Central Club. stating that it would open the season on October 12, and inviting Otaki to send a rink. A letter was also read from the Otaki Railway Bowling Club stating its intention of opening the green on September 28, and asking that reprcsentatives of the club be in attendance.— It was decided to request members who desired to go to make application. by either placIng their names 011 the board in the pavilion or informing the sec-
retary (Mr. McGilligan). Mrs. Coventry and Miss Mcllride wrote acknowledging letters of sympathy from the club on account of their recent bereavements. It was suggested that the club map out a programme for games desired to be played this season. — To have consideration. A letter was read from the Registrar qf Incorporated Societies relative to the club's rules, and suggesting alterations and additions. — To be attencled to, after which the rules will be printed and circulated among members. It was decided that the boards in the pavilion be made up to date by the addition of last season's winners, and that cups be engraved ! with the names of winners.
