OLD BOYS' CRICKET CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING HELD The an.nua-I g-eneral meeting. of the Horowhenua College Old Boys' Cricket Club-- was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. L. P. Griffith presidrng over a fair attendance. Annual Reporfc 1 Mr. A. Walker presented the annual report, which read as, fol.low.s: "It is with regret that I must record t-he pa-ssing- sjnce the c-lose of the season, of our patron, Mr-. WD. Thomas. K.eenly interested in the welfare of , the club, it was-. a grea.t pride to Mr. Thomas- to» see our team entered in the local competition, and' whether or not success attended our efforts-, his interest never deereased. "After a very indifferent opening, we achieved a fair- measure of Success towards the- end of' the season. It is pleasing to notice that this improvemen.t was watched by the Horbwhenua Association, which gave us every encouragement. Our congratulations are extended to the Levin Club on winning the Hall Shieid for the season. "Our club was well represented in the representative matehes played both at home and away, and it is an encouragement to a club. whose history is as short. as our's. The gear- is in reasonably good order and will not requ-ire many additions during the season. ' "In conclusion, I would like to thank- all members- for their whole hearted co-operation throughout the year." Efection of Officers The election of officers then took place and the following were appointed for the coming year: — Pat-ron: Mr. N, Byrnes; president: Mr. L. P. Griffith; viee-presidents: Messrs. H. Lynch, H;. Judd and J. D. Macfarlane; seeretary-treasur-er: Mr. R. Judd; committee: Messrs. L. P. Griffith, H. Lynch, H. Judd, J. D. MacFarlane, R. Judd, V. Lynch and R. Stevens; delegates to H.C.A. : Messrs. H. Lyn.c-h and A. Walker; club captain: Mr. R. Stevens; coach: Mr. C. E. Wiseley; sole selector: Mr. C. Wiseley. General Matters It was decided that a request be forwarded to the Levin Borough Council, through the Horowhenua Qricket Association, that a sum be fixed: to pay- for the prepa-ration of Saturday wickets. — It was left to -the delegates to the association. The subscription was fixed at Eland for university students 12s 6d. It was- decided that the starting time for games should be 1 p.m., and that practices be held on the college grounds starting, on Oetober 1. It was a.lso decided to play cricket. on race days.
