SHANNON SUB-CENTRE MEETS The monthly meeting of the Shannon Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held recently. Mrs. J. A. Easton presided and others present were: Mesdames J. D. Campbell, S. W. Barber, A. E. Buiiing, J- Griffiths, E. Ch6stci, R. Rasmussen, Wylie and J. A. Creigh (secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames J. T. Bovis and F. Edmonds. , ^ ^ The secretary reported the tins of food collected from the Red Cross boxes placed in the grocery establishments for the food for Fritain campaign had been nacked and dispatched, together with fat collected from the depot at the railway station, to the Palmerston • North centre. It was decided to make an appeal to the school children for cuddly toys, which are urgently requii*ed for children in Greece. It was agreed that Saturday a fternoon, October 5, should be set aside on which to hold a social a fternoon. It was decided to hold a number of competitions and items. The ladies of the committee would provide afternoon tea, and a silver coin collection would be taken up to aid the funds of the Red Cross.
