FILM AND RADIO STAR
Belle Chrystall, who recently made a striking success as Jane in the British Broadcasting Corporation's radio version of Jane Eyre, broadcast in the home and overseas programmes. ' Born in the north of England, she made her name in the film of "Hindle Wakes," a play of Lancashire mill life, and played the lead this year in the BBC production of it. Amoiig other films in
which Miss Chrystall has appeared is "Eyes of the World." She joined the BBC Repertory Company in 1941 and has since played in many of Val Gielgud's productions. She was Julia Varagin in the BBC presentation of Tolstoy's "War and Peace," and Sally in "Love on the Dole" which scored a record for drama listening figures. •
