HEAT WAVES BRINGS FIRES

Reeeived Friday, 9.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 13. In one of Sydnev's worst days_ ot fires, the historie All Saints' Church at Woollahra was badly damaged, a tiniber yard destroyed, and homes in several suburbs threatened. The heatwave kept temperatures well in the eighties and a strong breeze made the firemen's task a difheult one. The ehureli, whieh was built in 187(5, took fire in its oa-k shingles this afteL uooii. The police had to cordon off the area as crowds interfered with the work of the firemen. A barge building in ap Enfield tiniber yard, was destroyed in half-an-hour. The expeeted cool ehange has not yet arrived.
