The Prime Alinister, Ilon. P. Frasei. explained that the Uill einbodied an agreement made on the marae at Ng:i ruawahia between Ihe Alinister oi' Native Affairs, Ilon. II. G. R. Alasou, and the Waikato-Alaniapoto trilies, for a settlement of the Waikato efaims. ii provided for an initial payinent. of £5000, payment of £5000 a yoar in perpetuitv, and the payment of £1000 a year for 45 vears. The Bill also provided for the setting up of the Tainui Maori Trust Board to administer the fund. This board would be similar to the Arawa Trust Board and other similar boards. Replying to an Opposition inquiry, the Prime Alinister said there would be another Bill dealing with the Uoutli Tsland elaims.
