The unusual aeeident to the drum prevented the determination of the direction or time of the shoek. Aecording to a San Franciseo ntes sage, an earthquake was reeorded by the Oalifornia Institute of Technology, with its eentre about SOOO miles away, probably India, Bunna or the Netherland East Indies.
