NOT TODAY, THANKS!
Cases of mistaken identitv can lead to rcal embarrassment. A striking instance of this truism is the attempt made in Christchurch last week of a National -Party eanvasser to eonvert to the party 's way of tliought a Laboiir' member of Parliament. Here is the story as it is being told in the lobbies of Parliament Buildings When Miss M. B. Howard was industriously tidying up the wasli house of her home last Saturday she had a ealler who introduc-ed herself as a National Party eanvasser. Astonished at the unexpectedness of such a visit, Miss Howard asked whv a call was being made upon her, suggesting that there miglit have been a mistake. GOh, no, " replied tbe eanvasser. ''Look, here it is in my notebook — 191 Pages Road — a good prospect." "But I am Mabel Howard," Miss Howard pointed. out. Apparently, the name did not register, as tlie eanvasser said that made no differenee. She had been told to call at 191 Pages Road. Miss Howard then explained her identity more elearly and her ' visitor departed. It is understood that Miss Howard 's candidature for the Sydenham seat will 3till be in the Labour interest.
