DEFENCE RIFLE SHOOTING

LEVIN CLUB'S MEETING The annual general meeting of the Levin Defence Rifle Club was held last evening in the bandroom, Mr. V. G. Hunter presiding. A letter was read from the past. president (Mr. A. R. Tantrum), in which he advised that as he was now living in Nelson it would be impossible for him to carry on as president, and also asked the meeting to accept the letter as his resignation. The resignation was received with regret, as Mr. Tanthrum had been a member of the club for approximately 24 years, It was decided to send a letter -of appreciation to Mr. Tantrum for the vork he had done. The election of offlcers, the main item on the agenda, was then carried out and the following members were elected to the nositions: — Patron: Mr. G. P. Catley; president: Mr. V. G. Hunter; deputy-presi-dents: Messrs P. R. Catley and J. G. Horn; vice-presidents: Messrs E. Findsen, W. Donnelly, H. Nicholas, A. Colquhoun, E. Hogg, R. L. Robinson and W. Clark with power to add; secretary, Mr. S. L. Lumsden; treasurer: Mr. J. F. Bryce; auditor: Mr. W. Benning; trustees: Messrs V. G. Hunter, J. F. Bryce and S. L. Lumsden; executive committee: Messrs J. G. Horn, R. Rolston, S. Aanensen, M. Fletcher, J. Eagle, R. Cole, E. J. McLeavey. J. F. Bryce, V. G. Hunter, S. L. Lumsden and P. R. Catley; handicapper: Mr. P. R, Catley; ammunition officer: Mr. J. F. Bryce with Mr. R. Cole as assistant; delegates to Horowhenua Rifle Association: Messrs V. G. Hunter, J. G. Horn and P. R. Catley. It was decided to write to Mr. W. A. McLeavey, thanking him for the offer to cart the metal necessary for the construction of the new rifle butts at Kuku. Mr. J. G.
