BRITISH OFFICER'S RESIDENCE DESTROYED
Received Wednesday, 10.30 a.m. JERUSALEM, Sept. 10. The Irgun Zvai Leumi, using explosives, attacked the residence of the British Secnrity Officer in Tel Aviv, Major Doran. His wife was trapped under the debris of the residence. She has been rescned, but is not expected lo live. Major Doran and a guard of the building were shot in attempting to .prevent the blasting of it. Four Government employees in the building were injured. Superintendent Cohen, Tel Aviv's senior police officer, was wounded during the attack on the nublic information offices which are opposite Major Doran's residence. The Jewish Agency and Jewish National Council have issued statements condemning the terrorist outbreaks. The Sixth Airborne Division troops who carried out a house-to-house search in Tel Aviv have been withdrawn from Tel Aviv after occupying the city for fifteen hours and the curfew there has been lifted..
