ON THE LINKS AT BDCKLET Golfing conditions ' at Buckley over the week-end were ideal. The xairways were good and the greens excellent. There was a slight wind olowing on Saturday afternoon, but was not strong enough. to handicap piayers. There was a good gathering of members present on Saturday afternoon when the September medal round was played. Mf. C. Booker proved the winner of the medal with a nett score of 67. Although a first year player, Mr. Booker is playing outstanding golf and should be among the top piayers next season. The- results of the, medal match were as follows: — C. Booker 67, F. Chambers 88. 1946 Championships In the 1946 ' ' championsliip matches played on Saturday afternoon, severn games were played and the following were the results: — Senior: K. Thon1§QhjV def eated J. Chambers. Junio'r: C.^tern defeated V. Picardr C. Youmg. defeated R. Harding and W. Stern defeated T. Boon. C grade: J. Bell defeated T. S. Downes, C. Booker defeated V. Pope and H. Karena defeated R. S. Downes. "Top Dogs" Competition The "top dogs" competition was taken a stage further over the week-end, when a challenge from F. and V. Picard proved too much for the holders, J. Chambers and D. Higgie, who were defeated by four ujp and two to play. Next week the challengers will be B. Harris and T. S. Downes, who should be a good match for the Picard Bros., considering the match will be played in the morning, owing to the Otaki team's visit in the afternoon. Best Ball Stableford On Sunday afternoon conditions were again good and a full gathering of piayers met for the fourball stableford, the winners being J. Stern and C. Young with 41 points. Handicap Reductions The handicap committee advises that C. Booker's handicap has been reduced from 28 to 26 over the week-end. Members are reminded of the inter-club match with Otaki to be played on Sunday afternoon. A good gathering of members is requested;
