FINE OF £20 IMPOSED

INTOXICATED MOTORIST Charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor vehicle, George Henry Moulder pleaded guilty before Mr. A. M. .Goulding, S.M., in the Otaki Court yesterday. He was convicted and fined £20 and his license was caneelled for twelve monrhs. Constable W. Calwell gave cvidence to the effect that at about 5.15 p.m.- qn July 28 he noticed a truck and on stopping it found that it contained 19 young people from Wellington and that the driver was in a slight state of intoxication. He was taken to the police station ana later examined by Dc. Atmore. Moulder admitted that he had four or five beers. Constable Calwell added that the case was not a particularly bad one. Mr. C. F. Atmore, who appeared for defendant pointed out that the case was not a serious one and isked for a lenient penalty. In dealing with defendant, His Worship stressed the danger of an intoxicated man driving a motor vehicle, stating that many accidents occurred through it.
