NAZI SCUTTLING OF PRISON SHIPS
ATTEMPTS TO INDENTIFY THE VICTIMS Received Saturday, 11 a.m. HAMBURG, Sept. 6. Divers are attempting to identify the 12,500 prisoners who died when the Nazis scuttled the prison ships near Neustadt, in Lubeck Bay, in May, 1945, says the British News Service. Only 1500 of the 14,000 aboard the ships escaped, 150 of whom w.er.e recaptured and shot.
