Personal v Miss Ethel Robertson returned home on Tuesday morning after spending a three weeks' holiday visit to Mrs. L. W. Wilson, Mananui. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jameson, Landsdown, Masterton, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. Guerin, Kingston Road, have returned home. Tlie recent warm weather has been a boon to local sick folk, who are convalescing. Miss J. Doyle, who has been very ill for many months, was able to spend a short while up the town on Tuesday afternoon, and Mrs. H. Pope, who also has recently returned home' from hospital, was about again yesterday. Euchre Winners Prize winners at the euchre tournament conducted by the local branch of the Labour Party in Laurvig's Hall on Friday evening were Mrs. Tremewan and Mr. R. Andrew. August Weather During the month of August rain fell at No. 1 dam. Mangahao, on 27 days and registered 28.5 inches. At Mangaore there were 21 wet days and the rainfall measured 8.51 inches. August temperatures in the shade . at Shannon were as follows, those in_'parentheses being for August last year: — Highest day temperature 56 degrees (64p registered on the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 13th, 17th and 23rd: lowest day temperature 50 degrees (54), registered on the 28th. The highest night temperatui^ was 52 degrees (54) registered on t.he 5th. The lowest night temperature was 34 degrees (28) on the 30th.
