EXPRESS RAMS STOCK TRAIN

Received Wednesday, 9.10 p.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 4. When speeding through Bowning this morning, the Sydi^-bound Melbourne express switclied on to a side line and c.rashed into the rear of a stationary stock train. Only five passengers were injured, none seriously. The express driver clapped on the emergencjr* brakes but the 200-ton engine ploughed through the guard 's van of the stock train and left the rails. An emergencj' engine was able to pick up the express after a delay of 21 hours, and bring it into Sydney early this afternoon.
