o GAOL FOR MAN AND WIFE INVERCARGILL, August 30. Six weeks; imprisonment on eacli of two charges of neglecting tlieir children, was imposed by Jlr. Abernethy, S.M., in the Magistrate 's Court, on Eobert Douglas Miller and his wife, ! Melva Irene Miller, the sentences to j run concurrently. Aceused pleaded guiltv to neglecting I girls aged seven and three. The Magistrate remarked that aceused had already lost one child in cir- 1 cumstances wliicii now nppcared extr.emely repreliensible and added that 5 both aceused spent tlieir money 011 1 liquor and alloued the children to ' grow up in a eondition of extreme heglect.
